Marc by Marc Jacobs makes the holographic trend a little more affordable

Marc by Marc Jacobs Techno Wingman WristletFor a trend that’s going to be very easily identifiable as “so last season” in a year’s time, holographic bags are expensive. With brands like Celine, Stella McCartney and Proenza Schouler leading the way into a more iridescent future, getting the look for a price that feels commensurate with the trend’s staying power (or probable lack thereof) has been challenging. Plus, what if you just want a little bit of holo accent, instead of a whole bag? There has to be a reasonable way to achieve that without breaking the bank, right? Enter Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Marc Jacobs’ little sister line is always quick to pick up youth-oriented trends like this one and put them to casual, functional, affordable use (see also: neon), so it’s not surprising that the brand is among the first to offer a little bit of holo at a price that feels as though it befits such a look. The holo PVC appears on wallets, wristlets and card-holder keychains, and although there’s also a deep blue version, the light silver lends itself best to the obvious color shift that most customers are probably looking for. At these price points, it’s time to check in to this trend if it’s been on your mind.
